Conditions of service which have been fought for in the past, all UNISON members should fight to keep. Once they have been taken away they will never return.
3 days unpaid leave is essentially a pay cut when we have gone for 2/3 years without any increase in salary.
A cut to sick pay entitlement will damage the most vulnerable.
The loss of essential car user allowance could put vulnerable service users at risk.
The loss of relocation allowance could leave members out of pocket if they are obliged to work anywhere other than their designated workplace.
The latest news from the Central Government on 20th June 2013 is that local authorities will have to make further cuts of at least 10% which clearly indicates not only further attacks on terms and conditions but will almost certainly mean more compulsory redundancies.
We are as ever challenging these aggressive attacks at Branch level, but once again individual members who come together collectively under the UNISON banner have the greater power.
We will be holding meetings over the next several weeks for members to discuss and consider what action they may be prepared to take to counter these aggressive proposals.
